In today’s video, I speak about meditation for overcoming jealousy, how and why it works, and how you can get started today.
Meditation for overcoming jealousy can be one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal.
Zachary Stockill: So, why meditate?
If you’re anything like most people, you might be sick of hearing people like me talking about meditation. I’d say in particular, in the past maybe 15 or 20 years, meditation has become more and more popular.
It seems like everyone and their mother are trying to get you to meditate, promoting meditation, promoting their own unique style of meditation, et cetera, et cetera. There’s a lot of hype around meditation.
A lot of people in some ways oversell meditation in my view, as a sort of panacea for life’s ills.
And meditation is enormously powerful, extremely beneficial, but it won’t solve all your problems. I’m not going to be one of those people who is going to sell you on that idea because it’s not true.
However, meditation is easily one of the most valuable tools in any person’s arsenal. Especially given the chaos of the modern world.
I believe that meditation has a lot to offer. Anyone struggling with any kind of emotional disorder and anyone, in particular, struggling with obsessive jealousy.
So contrary to popular belief, meditation is not about attaining some blissful Zen-like state of total calm and clarity and tranquility.
Meditation is about different things to different people. If you do research around the different schools of meditation, you’ll get different insights in terms of what meditation can offer you.
However, I believe for most jealousy sufferers, some of the crucial benefits, extremely valuable benefits of meditation are, number one, detaching from our thoughts.
So frequently, when we have a thought, on some level we associate our identity with that thought. We think that this thought represents us, our deepest truth.
And meditation for overcoming jealousy will, over time, help you detach from thoughts.
Let thoughts go. Don’t be consumed by thoughts. Don’t associate any one particular thought or series of thoughts with your identity, with absolute truth.
If you get good at meditation and you maintain a consistent meditation routine, you’ll find that over time, your ability to disconnect from thoughts that aren’t serving you will grow stronger and stronger.
Anyone watching this who struggles with obsessive jealousy, retroactive jealousy, will probably tell you that the ability to disconnect from thoughts instantly that aren’t serving us is an extremely valuable gift that meditation can offer us.
Another enormous benefit of meditation for overcoming jealousy is gaining the ability to be present in life.
Frequently, our days are taken up. Eaten up in some ways, by worries about the future and fretting about the past. Constantly, we waste the now, we waste the present moment worrying about the past, obsessing over the future, et cetera, et cetera.
When really, the only reality that exists is now, the present moment. That’s all that exists. That’s all that we can touch, that’s all that’s really real in a very fundamental sense.
And thus in each moment, we have the ability to make whatever we want of the present moment.
This is all we have power over, our choices, our actions, our perspectives, in the present moment. And cultivating meditation routine over time will help you become more present.
And anyone struggling in particular with retroactive jealousy will tell you that staying present, gaining the ability to be present is a pretty attractive option, a pretty attractive offer.
I can remember back when I was struggling with retroactive jealousy, how difficult it was for me to really stay in the present moment. And the more I meditated, the more I maintained a consistent meditation routine, the easier it became to let thoughts that weren’t serving me go and to stay present, stay grounded and remain in the present moment.
There are many schools out there, many ways to get started.
In my premium online course, Get Over Your Partner’s Past Fast, I present live demonstrations in which I show you just some basic techniques, which are very helpful.
I also have a lengthy series of guided meditation aimed at specific elements of overcoming retroactive jealousy. Many hundreds of students have found those guided meditations extremely helpful.
But if you take away nothing else from this video, I hope you’ll do some digging around to help you do some research and give meditation a chance.
Because if you’re struggling with any kind of jealousy or really any kind of emotional disorder, meditation can be an extremely powerful tool in your arsenal.
