I’ve received a lot of emails from readers asking about what to do if/when they encounter what I call “trigger” people.

A “trigger person” is someone associated with your partner’s past who brings up an intense emotional response in you. For most sufferers of retroactive jealousy, their main “trigger person” is their partner’s ex.

For some of you (especially those of you who live in small towns and cities), there is a very real possibility that you’ll encounter your partner’s ex at some point… maybe even on a regular basis.

I just recorded a video addressing the question: “What should I do if I run into my partner’s ex?”

In this short video I offer 3 simple, immediately actionable tips for dealing with the prospect of running into your girlfriend’s ex, your wife’s ex, your boyfriend’s ex, your husband’s ex, etc. However, my advice can also apply for running into ANYONE in your life who brings up a charged emotional response for you.

Click below to watch:

And please read this article (I mention it in the video) if you’d like more information and advice for dealing with trigger people.

Remember: trigger people are only “trigger people” if you let them get to you. Stay strong, power through the experience, stay present, and you’ll emerge stronger on the other end.
